Adele Mara..............Born Adelaide Delgado in 1925 Spanish-American Adele Mara was a singer/dancer with Xavier Cugat and His Orchestra in Detroit by the age of 15. Cugat took the stunning brunette with brown eyes, on a trip to New York. A Columbia talent scout spotted her and she was signed in 1942. She starred as fast-paced lead women in a number of low-quality B-movies. These included Vengeance of the West with Tex Ritter (1942), as well as Alias Blackie (1942) which starred Chester Morris. The actress was transformed years later into a sexy platinum blonde pin-up after she joined Republic Studios. She was busy in the Republic Studios, often as a senorita opposite Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. Blackmail (1947), Web of Danger Web of Danger (1947), and The Avengers were all enjoyable distractions from her crime-drama productions. Her best roles were in Angel in Exile, (1948), as well as Sands of Iwo Jima, (1949) which both featured Duke Wayne. Her acting talent did not always get acclaim and her professional career started to slide in the 1950s. The Big Circus (1959) which starred Victor Mature, would be her final screen appearance. Adele transitioned from film to TV with a handful of guest appearances, mostly westerns. Following her marriage to TV mogul Roy Huggins (who produced many success shows, such as 77 Sunset Strip and Maverick) She eventually settled down with her husband and family. In her role as a guest, she was in many of these. The couple was married for more than 30 years and had three children. Huggins passed away on February 2, 2002.
